Dzhankoi with 39.7 thousand residents is a large railway hub with a well-developed infrastructure. It is a home for numerous agricultural processing facilities. The place is commonly referred to as “the gate to Crimea” as roads fan out from the city to all small and big places in Crimea. At the same time, railroads converge in the city from four directions. A high way of national significance passes through Dzankoi, and the Dnipro waters roll down the nearby canal. After the locally based Air Forces regiment left, the city obtained a fully operational airport which it successfully maintains. The key strategic advantage of the place is its transportation potential which easily links you to any place in Ukraine, NIS, Europe and Crimea. TRANSPORT
Dzhankoi connects Crimea with Ukraine mainland cities and the NIS countries; five rail passenger tracks cross through the city in four directions. The highway Kharkiv – Simferopol links Russia and eastern and central Ukraine with Crimea along the South – North axis.
The public transportation system provided a good coverage of municipal areas. A local inter-city bus terminal serves numerous transit long-distance automobile routes and transit passengers.

A successfully managed air company “Veteran” flies domestic and international cargo and passenger flights, and engages in aviation services for agricultural enterprises. In 1999, the airport "Dzhankoi" was awarded a status of international and certified for the “A” flights. Air planes of all classes can be processed round-the clock in any weather conditions.

The Railroad Department operates its car and locomotive repair facilities in the city.
A big canal running nearby delivers its fresh waters to local farmers. The city houses a number of facilities operating agricultural machine building, agricultural processing and food industry companies. Local manufacturing companies are a good basis for further growth and new business start-ups. Educational opportunities in Dzhankoi are varied and many. There are nine general comprehensive schools, three educational establishments operating out of the state school system, an interschool vocational training facility, and a technical college. The city is a home to a number of consulting offices opened by such academic institutions as the Simferopol Modern Humanitarian Institute (Branch of the Modern Humanitarian Academy (Moscow), the European University of Finance, Information Systems, Management and Business, the Dzhankoi Branch of the Rivne State Technical University, the Crimean States Engineering and Pedagogical University and the Ukrainian National University of Water and Natural Resources Management Apartments (rent 2006) The first written records about Dzhankoi date back to 1855. In 2000, the Arts Museum called after N. Rerikh opened its doors to first visitors. The Museum operates several arts studios and engages in exhibitions of the lead Ukrainian and Crimean artists. Dzhankoi offers such amenities as a palace of culture, a movie theatre, a stadium, a park and three libraries. There is a Holy Protection Orthodox Church and a Muslim mosque in the city. It is a home for the representatives of 14 religious denominations.
